UPDATE: Warrants Issued in Franklin Shooting Case

(Franklin, GA) — According to a press release issued Saturday evening by Lieutenant Investigator Tino Brooks of the Franklin Police Department, a total of nine warrants have been issued for the arrest of two suspects in connection with the December 29 shooting at 291 Mary Johnson Drive in Franklin.

29-year-old Sharome Watts of Franklin was shot in the arm during a robbery and home invasion at the residence and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Sharome Watts has since been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Lieutenant Brooks spent several days this week in the West Georgia and East Alabama areas following leads on the possible suspects.

According to reports by Brooks, the authorities do have information on the vehicle used during the alleged crimes as well as other evidence.

The names of the two individuals the warrants were issued for are not being released pending the location and arrest of the suspects, which Brooks hopes will take place in the next several days.

ORIGINAL: (Franklin, GA – Tuesday, December 30 -10:25 AM ) — Investigators with the Franklin Police Department are searching for a person of interest after a local man was shot in the arm during an armed robbery Monday.

According to a report from Chief Kevin Hannah, officers responded to a call at 291 Mary Johnson Drive at 9:55 p.m. on Monday evening.

Upon arrival they found that 29-year-old Sharome Watts had been shot in the arm.

Watts told investigators that when he had arrived at home he had found a masked male intruder attempting to rob his home.

Reportedly, according to Watts’ statement to police, he was trying to comply with the robber’s demands when he was shot.

After shooting him, the man robbed an undisclosed amount of cash from Watts and fled the scene through a back door.

Watts had non-life threatening injuries and was able to speak with authorities before being transported to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. He is currently in stable condition after being transported to another hospital in Atlanta.

Lead investigator Tino Brooks with the FPD is currently following up on several leads and is seeking information from a person of interest outside of Heard County although no one has been named as an official suspect at this time.

A 9mm shell casing was recovered at the scene. The suspect is facing numerous charges including armed robbery and aggravated assault.
