Victim’s Rights Week Blood Drive

(Franklin, GA) — National Crime Victim’s Rights Week will be observed this year the week of April 11th.

The goal of this annual observance is to unite communities in honoring and empowering victims of crime and bringing awareness to the local community about victim’s rights.

The Victim Assistance Program in District Attorney Pete Skandalakis’ Office will again be observing National Crime Victims’ Rights Week by hosting their yearly Red Cross Blood Drive.

Individuals who would like to donate can visit the Heard County Community Center, located at 2484 Franklin Parkway.

Please register early by visiting redcrossblood.org and using the sponsor code HeardDA, or by calling Tanya Roberts at the District Attorney’s Office at 706-675-0955.

Walk-ins are also welcome on the day of the blood drive.

Besides commemorating such a special week, blood donation is greatly needed in the community.

Every day, 44,000 units of blood are needed in this country — for accident victims, cancer patients, surgical candidates, children with blood disorders and more.

Also, the Victim Assistance Program is issuing a challenge to all public safety departments and criminal justice agencies in Coweta County by featuring a friendly competition among those agencies.

A plaque will be presented to the agency that has the most employees participate.
