(Lagrange, GA) — The Lady Braves softball team got back on the winning track Monday with an 8-0 shut-out of a much-improved Callaway Lady Cavaliers squad in Lagrange.

Junior Jordan Watson led the way on the mound and at the plate. Watson allowed only one base hit in four innings of work before handing the ball over to sophomore Hattie Yarbrough who struck out the side to end the game by run rule in the fifth inning.

Offensively, Watson landed two big blows, the first a towering two-run homer in the third, followed by a two-run double in the fourth. Yarbrough also added an RBI double and the other two RBI’s came on a two-run base hit by Anna Shelnutt in the top of the third.

The junior varsity Lady Braves lost a close 6-5 game on a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the last inning in the early game.

Both squads will travel to Sharpsburg on Wednesday to take on the AAAAAA East Coweta Lady Indians in rematches from earlier in the season.

In JV football action Monday, the Braves got a big road win by a final score of 20-8 at Manchester.
