West Metro Task Force makes drug arrest

On April 4, 2012, agents with the West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office and deputies with the Heard County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by Troup County Sheriff’s agents in reference to a Thomas Eugene Arnold.

Troup County investigators advised West Metro agents that they currently held outstanding felony arrest warrants for Thomas Arnold for alleged possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm.

Troup County advised agents and Heard County authorities that Mr. Arnold had fled their jurisdiction and was currently hiding out in the Corinth area of Heard County.

Agents with the West Metro Task Force were able to confirm Arnold’s whereabouts as being 685 ga. Hwy. 100, South, Lot #23b.

West Metro agents were also able to determine that Mr. Arnold was allegedly selling methamphetamine from that residence in and around the Corinth area. Agents were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence.

On April 6, 2012, agents with the West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Heard County Sheriff’s Office and Troup County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 685 Ga. Hwy. 100, South, Lot #23b.

Thomas Eugene Arnold

Thomas Arnold was not at the residence at this time. Agents were able to determine that Mr. Arnold had left the residence sometime during the night.
Agents received information that Thomas Arnold was hiding out at a Super 8 Motel in Newnan, Ga.

West Metro Agents along with agents with the Coweta County Crime Suppression Unit were able to locate Thomas Arnold at the Super 8 Motel. After a short foot chase, agents were able to apprehend Arnold after a brief struggle.

Arnold was found to be in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine, marijuana and US currency.

West Metro Drug Enforcement agents charged Thomas Arnold with possession of meth with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Coweta County Sheriff’s Office charged Arnold with felony obstruction of officers.
