Woman charged in tax return scam

(Lagrange, GA) — On June 18, 2015, Troup County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Investigators assisted Special Agents with the Georgia Department of Revenue in the arrest of a woman that defrauded the State of Georgia of more than two million dollars.

Charged and arrested is Rainnessia Stiggers, age 43 of West Point, Georgia.

Stiggers and others participated in a fraudulent scheme that defrauded the State of Georgia out of the above sums of money.

Most of the thefts involved fraudulent income tax returns through a variety methods.

Stiggers operated offices throughout Georgia and Alabama and additional victims may be involved.

Stiggers is currently being held in the Troup County Jail charged with Felony-Theft, Computer Forgery, First Degree Forgery, Felony Theft-Deception and Identity Fraud.
