2019 MDA ‘Fill the Boot’ fundraising campaign

(Franklin, GA) — Heard County Fire & Emergency Services will proudly be at the red light in Franklin with boots in hand for this year’s annual MDA Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to help save and improve the lives of people fighting muscle disease.

This event will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019, Friday, August 30, 2019 and Saturday, August 31, 2019 during the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.

In 2018, Heard County firefighters raised more than $4,900 filling the boot for MDA thanks to the generosity of the Heard County community.

Citizens of Heard County can once again help them reach their goal by dropping a donation into their boots when seeing them out during the Fill the Boot Drive.

For more than six decades, fire fighters have fueled and supported MDA’s mission to find treatments and cures for life-threatening muscle diseases.

Muscular dystrophy and other related life-threatening diseases take away people’s ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world’s leading nonprofit health agency dedicated to saving and improving the lives of anyone with muscle disease, including muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases.

It does so by funding worldwide research to find treatments and cures; by providing comprehensive health care services and support to MDA families nationwide; and by rallying communities to fight back through advocacy, fundraising and local engagement.
