26-year-old Carrollton man drowns while trying to rescue his son

(Carrollton, GA) — A Carrollton man drowned Saturday while trying to rescue his son.

Authorities say 26-year old Stefan Hunt-O’Neal, a Carrollton fitness instructor, drowned Saturday after diving into Lake Seaton to rescue his son who had fallen into the water.

Carroll County Coroner Keith Hancock identified O’Neal as the victim in a report by Gradick Communications.

Carroll County Communications Director Ashley Hulsey said Hunt-O’Neal and another adult were fishing from a boat when Hunt-O’Neal’s son fell off the boat.

The boys’ father and another adult male both jumped in to rescue him.

The second adult male and the youth were both able to make it back to the boat safely.

DNR assisted Carroll County Fire Rescue and were able to recover Stefan Hunt-O’Neal’s body a short time later.

The drowning victim was employed by Club Fitness in Carrollton.
