A COVID-19 message from Chairman Lee Boone

First, I hope all of you are doing as well as can be expected with what is going on.

I know most of you have read or heard about the order from the Heard County Board of Health (whom I am Vice Chairman of) that went into effect March 28, 2020 at 12:01 am.

If you have not read it, please take the time to do so.

As of the time of release of this article we do not have an outbreak In Heard County.

Even though this is good news, our citizens should still consider this as a serious threat and continue to respect the State Department of Health and CDC guidelines to prevent an outbreak.

The borders of Heard County are currently surrounded by an invisible enemy trying to get in, and we urge all citizens to join us in the fight to “KEEP IT OUT.”

The health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Heard County is and has been a top priority of all local governmental entities, by the actions taken to date.

I urge all citizens to patronize our local businesses for your needs to help them through this crisis, and this also keeps you inside the borders of our county.

Take this quarantine and make the best of it. Put down your phones, turn off the news, enjoy the time with your families, and just try to cherish the things we have long taken for granted.

These are the things that God wants us to focus on anyway. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

Take this subtle opportunity to unplug ourselves from the social and economic matrix that we all have become oblivious to. This event does not have to be something that holds us captive to fear, and now is the time to be fearless.

It can also be a reminder of just how fragile things can be, something that brings us closer together and to the things that are most important.

It is a moment of humility as we start to notice all the hardworking and dedicated people who keep our county and nation running daily, and those on the front lines to prevent this invisible enemy from advancing.

Have a great weekend, enjoy this beautiful weather, check on the elderly and your neighbors, and remember to pray Psalms 91 protection for you, your family and our county.

Lee Boone, Chairman

Heard County Board of Commissioners
