Are You Ready for the Election?

(Franklin) — Have you made the effort to make sure that your voter registration is up to date?

If the Voter Registrar does not have your correct address, it may cause trouble for you on Election Day. If you have moved to another address, it is important that you update your address with the Voter Registrar.

If you have never registered to vote, now is the best time to do so. The last day you can register for the General Election in November is October 11, 2016.

Information on these and other election topics can be found on the Voter Registration Office web page at http://www.heardcountyga.com/voterReg.html.

Here you will find a link to the Secretary of State’s web site, where you can check your registration status and register to vote. If you have a Georgia driver’s license, the process can be completed on-line.

Remember that you can also register to vote in person at the Voter Registration Office (Room #14 of the Courthouse), at a public library or public assistance center, or when you renew your driver’s license.

Also on the Voter Registration web site is a link to an absentee ballot application that can be printed out, signed and sent to the Registration Office. If you would like an absentee ballot application sent to you, please call the Voter Registration Office at 706-675-3907.

Also on the web site is a sample ballot with the races being contested in November, information on the constitutional amendments that will be on the November ballot, precinct and district maps for Heard County, and an election calendar that let’s you know the important dates for the General Election.

If you have any questions regarding the General Election, please call the Election Superintendent at 706-675-3353.
