Armed robbery reported at Troup County Bait and Tackle store

(Lagrange, GA) — At around 11:30 AM on Sunday, September 6 deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Camp Bait and Tackle at 56 Vernon Ferry Road in Lagrange in regards to an armed robbery which had just occurred.

Once on scene, Troup County deputies spoke with two victims who stated that two unknown black males entered the store, one wearing all black and a “COVID-19 style mask,” pointed a hand gun at the clerk, and demanded the keys to the register and lottery machines.

After giving the suspect only a small amount of cash, the male became very angry and forced the victims into an office in the store while the second male began grabbing cigarettes and lottery tickets.

According to a TCSO press release, the victims stated that they were only in the office for approximately three to four minutes before they heard them exit the store at which time they opened the door and called 911.

The victims described the vehicle the alleged suspects were in as a black SUV (possibly a Dodge Durango) with a tag that had been painted black and tinted windows.

The second suspect was described as a black male, about 6-feet tall wearing a green shirt and blue jeans. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
