Brave Nation Weekly News & Notes (04/27/18)

(Franklin) — Each week during the sports season, HeardCitizen.com brings you a weekly wrap-up of Brave Nation sports including news, notes, a weekly schedule, and the Brave Nation Player of the Week.

NEWS AND NOTES

Silent Auction — The annual silent auction sports fundraiser will take place at 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2017. Tickets are still available and you may purchase a ticket from any HHS coach or at the door the night of the event.

State Track Sectionals — Several Brave track athletes will travel to Calhoun Saturday for the GHSA Class AA State Sectionals. The top four in each event will advance to the state meet May 10-12 in Albany.

Guest Speaker — Former Brave coach and Arizona State Championship coach Norris Vaughan will be the guest speaker at the Silent Auction Saturday night. He will speak at 6:00 PM and will also be at Loco Mex on the River Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM for any former players or students that want to stop by and say hello.

Brave Nation Co-Players of the Week

The Brave Nation Co-Players of the Week are HCMS baseball players (L-R) Chance Brown, Kellon Rollings, and Isaiah O’Neal.

All three were crucial this season in the team’s run to a first ever middle school baseball championship. 

Congratulations to Kellon, Chance, and Isaiah for being named this week’s Brave Nation Co-Players of the Week.

Sweet 16 Tennis — The Lady Braves were eliminated from the GHSA State Playoffs by Armuchee Wednesday afternoon as were the boys at Model to conclude fine seasons by both squads.

ACC Softball Tournament — Cali Harrod and Anna Shelnutt along with the rest of the top-seeded Florida State softball team will be battling for an ACC Championship at Georgia Tech May 9-12 in Atlanta. Click here to buy tickets and see the brackets. The Championship game will air on the ESPN Network May 12 at noon.

Friday, May 4

~ GHSA Class AA Second Round State Playoff Game 3 (TBD/if necessary)
