Brave Nation Weekly News & Notes (08/04/16)

(Franklin) — Each week during the sports season, HeardCitizen.com brings you a weekly wrap-up of Brave Nation sports including news, notes, a weekly schedule, and the Brave Nation Player of the Week.

Pizza Anyone? — The Heard County Marching Braves are holding a pizza kit fundraiser. They will be taking orders through August 12. Money is due with the order. Delivery will be August 22nd. If you are interested please see a band or guard member for more information.

Away Football Scrimmage — The Braves varsity football team will travel to Callaway Stadium this Friday night, August 5 for a scrimmage game versus Lagrange (7:30 PM). The Marching Braves will be traveling.

Softball Scrimmage — The Lady Braves will travel to the campus of UWG today (August 4) at 5:30 for a scrimmage with Alexander.

Homecoming Date — The football homecoming game will be on October 21 versus Jordan.

Brave Nation Player of the Week

IMG_1947The Player of the Week is  football player Mr. Jay Jones.

The 6’0-315 lb. senior was the Weight Champion of the 2016 Iron Brave competition squatting 520 lbs. and bench pressing 375 with a three lift total of 1170 lbs.

Congratulations to Jay for being named this week’s Player of the Week!

Braving the Rain — Midnight Madness and the Marching Band Preview shows were both completed in spite of untimely rain showers last weekend.

Early Rankings —  Score Atlanta has the Braves ranked No. 6 in the state in Class AA. Region 5-AA rival Callaway is ranked No. 5. Fitzgerald is the top ranked team in the state.

Middle School Jamboree — Staples Stadium at HHS will host a middle school football jamboree on August 13 @ 10:00 AM. The Middle Braves will be in action.

Season Football Tickets —  Heard County High School football reserved seats for the up and coming 2016 year are now available. For more information, contact Mandy Stephens @ 706-594-2916. The reserved seat Paid in Full Deadline is August 12.

Regular Season Softball Opener — The Lady Braves varsity and junior varsity softball squads open the regular season next Tuesday, August 9 at Central (Carrollton). The varsity game will start at 5:00 followed immediately by the JV game.
