Brave Nation Weekly News & Notes (09/06/17)

(Franklin) — Each week during the sports season, HeardCitizen.com brings you a weekly wrap-up of Brave Nation sports including news, notes, a weekly schedule, and the Brave Nation Player of the Week.

NEWS AND NOTES

Best Brave Ever — Heard County Hall of Famer Carlos Brown was recognized by Georgia High School Football Daily this week as the best Brave football player of all time. Brown rushed for 4,232 yards and scored 52 touchdowns in his high school career, went on to be a four-year letterman at Michigan, and was an AJC Super 11 pick.

Storm Troopers — The Heard County High School National Honor Society collected items last week to be sent to Texas in aid of Hurricane Harvey victims.

2017 Homecoming Week — The Braves will celebrate homecoming week October 16-20. The Braves will host Jordan that Friday night at Staples Stadium.

Brave Nation Player of the Week

The Brave Nation Player of the Week is HHS varsity cheer captain Ms. Sara Wiggins.

Sara is a captain of the 2017 cheerleading squad and a 4-year letterman. She is also a four-time NCA All-American and one of the top students in her class.

Former Coach in Town — Former HCMS coach Allen Sikes will be the head coach for Haralson County Middle School football team when they visit Franklin tomorrow for the middle Braves’ home opener.

Carrollton Tourney — The Lady Braves softball team will compete at the Carrollton Tournament this Friday and Saturday. See schedule below for game times.

Stateline Volunteers Needed — The Marching Braves will be hosting their first ever band competition on Saturday, September 30 at Staples Stadium and are in need of community volunteers for the event. If you can help please call Joy Thompson at 706-594-6879 or email her at JoyT30217@yahoo.com.
