Brave Nation Weekly News & Notes (12/06/16)

(Franklin) — Each week during the sports season, HeardCitizen.com brings you a weekly wrap-up of Brave Nation sports including news, notes, a weekly schedule, and the Brave Nation Player of the Week.

Georgia Northwest Bowl IV — Coach Tim Barron will coach one of the teams at the Georgia Northwest Bowl IV on December 17 at McEachern High School. Senior Braves Trey Wiggins, DayVin Troy, Peyton Ehlers, Drew Hopkins, and Mike Holmes will play in the game. Stay tuned for more information later this week.

Winter Baseball Camp — The Braves baseball team is hosting a youth winter baseball camp from December 13-15 at HHS. Click here for more information.

Brave Nation Player of the Week

Harris POW2The Brave Nation Player of the Week is senior basketball player Ms. Kimberly Harris.

Kimberly has been dominant all season for the Lady Braves, leading her team in scoring in every game of the season as the team is off to a 5-2 start. She has also been big on the boards with several double-doubles in points and rebounding.

Congratulations to Kimberly for being named this week’s Brave Nation Player of the Week

Closing in on 1000 — Former Brave basketball player LaRice Walker scored a season-high 17 points for the Georgia College Bobcats in a 77-50 win over Albany State Saturday. LaRice, a senior needs just 89 points to become the 14th Bobcat player to score 1,000 points in a career. Reece scored 1000 in just three seasons with the Lady Braves from 2009-2012.

Blankets for the Nursing Home — The Lady Braves basketball team will be visiting the nursing home here in Franklin during the holidays on December 22. The activities director there said they needed small throw blankets for patients. The Lady Braves want to collect 75 of these to meet the need. If you would like donate a blanket to help them meet this need you may give them to any Lady Brave or drop them off to Coach Akins at HHS.
