(Franklin, GA) — The Heard County Brave wrestling program honored the Class of 2019 Senior members prior to the final home matches of the year at HCHS Wednesday afternoon.

Recognized were the two senior grapplers, Logan Moran and Gage Cannon, along with team manager Samantha Minix.

Although they competed in their last home matches, the careers of Moran and Cannon are far from over as they each undertake the road to state next week.

Following a final tune-up at the Bowdon Invite today and tomorrow, the Braves team will compete at the GHSA Area 4 Traditional Meet next week in Bremen (Feb. 1-2) in hopes of advancing individuals on to the State Sectionals the following weekend (Feb. 8-9) which also takes place at Bremen.

The top four wrestlers in each individual weight class at area will advance to the sectionals and the top six in each class at sectionals will advance to the big State Championship dance at the Macon Centreplex Feb. 13-16.

Cannon and Moran both earned medals at the State Finals in 2018 and both will be viable contenders to earn Heard High’s first ever Individual GHSA State Wrestling Championship at the big meet which features wrestlers from all over the state in all classifications.

The Braves are led by head Coach Kyle Yates — himself a former two-time state medal winner in high school.
