Braves host 5th Annual ‘Midnight Madness’

braves(Franklin) — A record crowd of  Heard County football fans showed up to Staples Stadium at midnight Friday to watch the Heard County Braves varsity football team hold its first scrimmage of the 2015 season.

As part of the 5th annual late night event dubbed “Midnight Madness,” Brave Nation faithful were allowed into the stadium at midnight, just after the Senior players gave their traditional senior speeches to the team.

Tim Barron enters into his 14th season as the Braves’ head man with an overall record of 102-47.

The Braves upcoming schedule features the same tough start as a year ago with the regular season opener versus Fitzgerald at Mercer University on Saturday, August 29 and a huge Pulpwood Classic tilt with arch rival Callaway the following Friday, September 4 .

The team will first host two preseason games over the next two weeks with the Alexander Cougars visiting Staples Stadium this Friday, August 14 and the Greenville Patriots traveling to Franklin next Friday, August 21.

The tickets for each scrimmage game will be $5.00 in advance and at the gate.

During the regular season, tickets will be sold for $6.00 in advance and can be purchased at any Heard County school Wednesday through Friday of game week.

Regular season tickets at the gate on Friday nights will be $8.00. Kids age 6 and under are free.
