(Franklin, GA) — Members of the Braves Patrol at Centralhatchee Elementary School were recognized at their recent Awards Program held Monday, May 20, 2019.

The Braves Patrol are students selected by the faculty and one of their many duties is to care for the school flag.

Patrol members raise the flag each morning, lower it at the end of the school day, and keep watch during the day for inclement weather.

Members of the James Stewart Chapter, NSDAR, presented the students with a Flag of the USA Certificate signed by their President General in Washington, DC, and an American flag pin to thank them for their service.

On hand for this presentation was Jane Barker, Chairman, Flag of the USA Committee and Honorary Chapter Regent; Pamela Lyle, Chapter Regent; and Julia Saint, Chapter Registrar and DAR Schools Chairman.

The Flag of the USA Committee for the DAR was formed in 1909 to promote patriotic feeling and respect for our flag.

The student’s certificates and pins express the DAR’s sincere thanks as the children learn the proper meaning, observe the proper use, and honor our Flag.

Please contact your Heard County chapter at with any questions regarding this and our other programs.
