(Centralhatchee, GA) — The Braves Patrol at Centralhatchee Elementary had a couple of visitors on Friday, August 20th.

Jane Barker, Chairman of the Flag of the USA Committee for the James Stewart Chapter, NSDAR, and Georgia State NSDAR Flag Chairman, Pamela Lyle, stopped by the school to review flag etiquette and other topics with the new patrol members for 2021-22 school year.

Chairman Davis, reviewed the parts of the flag to the patrol before moving to the official school flag on the outside of the building.

Once outside, patrol members reviewed the lowering and the proper folding of the flag.

The 2021-2022 Braves Patrol members are Kenzie Arp, Abby Chambers, Bethany Dunmire, Kody Elkin, Alysa Heffelfinger, Aubree Key, Hunter Shaw, Gabby Smith, Austin Walker, Luke Walker, Brian Wells, Tiffany Wood, and Kayleigh Yates.

The Coordinator for the Braves Patrol this year is Lindsay McKenzie.

Each patrol member has many important duties in the school. Raising and lowering our nation’s flag is one of those duties and each of the students will rotate on the flag detail throughout the year. At the end of their class, each patrol member received their official flag pin and a pair of white gloves.

Before leaving, Braves Patrol members were presented a Certificate of Award from the Flag of the United States of America Committee signed by their President General, Denise Doring VanBuren.

The students were recognized for “The Proper Use, Correct Display and Patriotic Presentation of the Flag of the United States of America.”

The Flag of the USA Committee for the Daughters of the American Revolution was formed in 1909 to promote patriotic feeling and respect for our flag.

The Flag of the USA is only one of many committees that combine our nation’s history, patriotism and education to benefit the youth in our country.

Please consider joining the NSDAR so that you can help shape the youth of today into the leaders of tomorrow. Email us at jamesstewartchapterdar@gmail.com or call and speak to a chapter representative at (770) 856-3354.
