(Corinth, GA) — Three suspects are currently behind bars at the Heard County jail after being charged with the armed robbery of a local Dollar General store.

The incident took place at the Corinth Dollar General located at 2979 Coweta-Heard Road at around 3:30 PM Sunday afternoon.

According to a report by Investigator Dan Boswell with the Heard County Sheriff’s Office, the three Coweta County residents were captured at a hotel near Interstate 85 in Coweta County Monday after a BOLO was released for the vehicle they were driving at the time of the robbery.

22-year-old Melquon Alford of Newnan, 22-year-old Khadijah Shuree Hardaway of Senoia, and 19-year-old Christian Alexander Smith of Newnan are each facing Armed Robbery charges.

Investigator Boswell says that Melquon Alford initially entered the store and used the restroom at around 3:25 PM Sunday before allegedly leaving and then returning to the store at around 3:41 PM.

Alford re-entered the store wearing the same clothing but this time his face was covered.

Upon returning, Alford was accompanied by Christian Smith. Alford brandished a firearm forcing the store manager to empty a small amount of cash from both cash registers.

Reports indicate there were six adult customers and two children inside the store at the time of the robbery — but no one was injured in the incident.

Alford and Smith allegedly left the premises in a dark blue 2002 Chrysler Concord driven by the female Khadijah Hardaway.

Witnesses at the scene identified the driver Hardaway as a former employee of the store which helped lead to the arrests.

Officers with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office located the suspected BOLO vehicle Monday at the America’s Best Value Inn at 1344 Hwy 29 South in Newnan and contacted Heard County authorities.

Subsequently, the three suspects were taken into custody without incident. Investigator Boswell says evidence from the armed robbery was discovered inside the hotel room.

The investigation is still ongoing and further charges are expected in the case. Stay tuned to HeardCitizen.com for further details and information as it becomes available.
