Thousands expected in Franklin for Stateline Showdown

(Franklin, GA) — Thousands of visitors are expected to descend on Franklin tomorrow as Heard High School hosts its first ever marching band competition.

Staples Stadium will be the site for the ‘Stateline Showdown’ featuring some of the top high school marching bands in the area.

The event will also feature special performances Saturday evening by the Marching Braves at 9:00 PM and the Lagrange College Panthers Marching band at 9:20 PM. The awards presentations will immediately follow.

The Hardaway High School band from Columbus will kick off the day’s performances at 12:40 PM.

Marching Brave director Eric Vogel is excited about hosting the school’s first competition.

“Our goal is for all bands to come to our contest to create lasting memories, see a variety of bands, and support fellow marching bands,” says Vogel.

“We strive to create a high quality, competitive atmosphere, where rankings and ratings are fair and accurate. The adjudication panel was selected based on guided recommendations from seasoned band directors.”

Other area marching performing at the showdown will include Pike County, Ranburne (AL), Beulah, First Presbyterian Day, Stratford Academy, Chapel Hill, Manchester, Mount Zion, Cedartown, McIntosh, Newnan, Jackson County, and Central of Carrollton.

Admission is $8 person and children 4 and under are admitted free. Concessions will be available throughout the day.
