West Georgia Tech Suspends 2016 Softball Season

(Carrollton, GA) — West Georgia Technical College is suspending the remainder of the 2016 softball season due to an insufficient number of eligible players. All remaining scheduled games for the 2016 season have been cancelled.

West Georgia Tech will revive the program and resume competition as a Division-I program in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) next fall.

“We fully support and maintain our steadfast commitment to the WGTC softball program, coach Monica Mills and the student-athletes that work hard on and off the field throughout the entire year,” West Georgia Technical College President Steve G. Daniel said.

“We regret that circumstances have prevented the team from completing the current season. We will do everything possible to ensure that our softball program thrives in the years to come.”

West Georgia Tech softball head coach Monica Mills is currently on the recruiting trail and has already locked up nearly a dozen commitments.

Mills said that she anticipates signing the largest and most talented crop of incoming freshmen and transfers in the program’s history when the recruiting class is complete.
