Carroll EMC Decreases December Power Bills

Carroll Electric Membership Corporation (Carroll EMC) announced recently that its Board of Directors has approved a reduction in the Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA) for its residential and small commercial Members.

Carroll EMC stated that for the month of December 2011, this action will lower the electricity bills for approximately 49,000 plus Members whose bills are affected by this rate.

It is estimated that this reduction should save Carroll EMC Members over $1.3 million dollars in lower energy costs over the course of the month.

“This is great news for our Members, especially after such an unusually hot summer that contributed to an increase in the energy bills for many of our Members.

Not to mention the fact that so many people in our area are still struggling financially due to the overall state of the economy,” states Alvin Ginn, CEMC Chairman of the Board. “We know that many of our Members are seeing challenges on a number of fronts and we want to do all we can to assist them; that’s the cooperative difference,” he adds.

The announced change went into effect December 1, 2011 and will lower the average residential bill by approximately $28.80 for the month. Other Members, who use more electricity, will see even bigger savings.

The total effect of this change is a function of a person’s actual energy usage; nevertheless, this action should be viewed as “very good” news for all of Carroll EMC’s Members.

“Carroll EMC is committed to the principles that made this organization great; cost controls and keeping retail rates as low as possible has been, and still is today, a key aspect of that promise to our Members” states President and CEO, Chip Jakins. “Although this rate is temporary, we believe it will make a difference in our Members’ lives; especially around Christmas and the New Year,” he adds.

Carroll Electric Membership Corporation is an electric distribution cooperative headquartered in Carrollton, Georgia. CEMC serves electricity to over 49,000 accounts serving Carroll, Haralson, Heard, Paulding, Polk, and parts of Floyd and Troup counties in greater west Georgia.

I can’t believe that Carroll EMC customers, I mean members would agree to just a $28.00 discount. After all we are the members to the cooperative, or maybe its just me who disagrees with these so called discounts.
