COVID-19 positive staff member confirmed at PruittHealth Franklin

(Franklin, GA) — The PruittHealth Franklin Nursing Home is dealing with another case of COVID-19 — this time a staff member.

The positive outcome for an employee was first reported Thursday by the Georgia Department of Community Health’s Long-Term Care Facility COVID-19 Report and then confirmed yesterday by a company spokesperson.

In a statement released to The Heard Citizen, the company says that while the facility remains at an Alert Code Amber status, all residents and other staff members are being tested as a precaution.

“PruittHealth – Franklin remains at Alert Code Amber status, meaning there are no known positive or presumptive positive COVID-19 patients in the center. 100% of patients and staff currently are being tested for COVID-19 and results will be posted to PruittHealth.com as soon as they are available,” said the statement from the PruittHealth Communications Department.

PruittHealth says the staff member was flagged during a routine screening prior to entering the facility in late June.

“The employee in question failed to pass our routine screening done for every person who comes to PruittHealth Franklin and never entered the center as a result of our precautionary measures. The individual has been self-isolating since late June and following all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Out of respect for our staff member’s privacy, we cannot comment further on their condition.”

The Franklin facility had earlier confirmed two patients with the virus. One resulted in a death and the other resident recovered and has since tested negative.

Stay tuned for further updates as they become available.
