(Franklin) — On Saturday February 13th, the James Stewart Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution welcomed new member Judy Miller who received her official DAR national number on December 5, 2016.

Judy proved her lineage to patriot John Pipes, who was a soldier from Pequanock Township, Morris County, New Jersey. He served as both a 1st and 2nd Lieutenant under Captains Wade and Seeley in the Revolutionary army.

Chaplain Sharon Frost administered the membership oath and registrar Bonnie Baker presented Judy a chapter yearbook, new member packet, and a copy of her approved application.

Regent Carla Brown welcomed her into the chapter and presented her with a DAR pin that can be worn proudly at all times. She was welcomed by all the chapter members and joined them for the DAR Good Citizen award ceremony that followed the chapter meeting.

The James Stewart is so pleased to have new members and encourages anyone who wishes to know more about the DAR to contact us.

DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America.

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.
