(Franklin, GA) — The 8U Braves boys basketball team scored a huge 29-16 victory at Manchester Saturday morning to claim the District 4 Championship and advance to the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Class C State Finals this weekend in Baxley, GA.

The 8U Braves will face off with the District 6 Champion in the first game of the tourney Friday night at 7:30 PM at the Appling County Recreation Center. The two teams will be seeded in Saturday’s tournament finals based on the outcome of that game one.

If the Braves win Friday night they would next play at 12:45 PM Saturday. If they lose that first game they would next play at 9:00 AM Saturday morning and in each case would need to win the next three games to claim the Class C State Championship.

The tournament championship game takes place Saturday evening at 6:45 PM.

The 8U boys were the only Heard team to reach the state tourney although two other 10U teams came very close.

The 10U Lady Braves lost a tough championship match-up versus Manchester in Franklin at the HCHS gym Saturday afternoon to end the season as District 4’s runner-ups in the 10U girl’s division. Manchester won by a final score of 25-17.
