ELECTION RESULTS: Hilton, Dunlap win close City Council races

(Franklin, GA) — Robert S. Hilton and Dianne G. Dunlap narrowly defeated their respective opponents in Tuesday’s only contested Franklin City Elections.

Hilton defeated Margaret “Maggie” Bonner 48-38 in the Post 1 City Council race.

Dunlap defeated incumbent Charles Israel 47-41 in the Post 3 race.

Current Mayor Kevin Hayes along with councilmen Bo Almond, Alane Bradfield, and Dion Senn were unopposed in this election cycle.

90 of 563 registered city voters (15.99%) cast votes in the election.

The next Franklin City Elections will take place in 2025.

    I am not a resident of the city of Franklin but a county resident. I believe that part of our problem is shown in the turn-out for the city council elections. Less than 10 percent of the population voted in this election. What is the reason ??????
