Escapee Captured in Bremen

(Carroll County) — A Carroll County escapee is back in police custody after two days on the run.

18-year-old Casey Summerville was captured in Bremen Wednesday by the U.S. Marshal’s Service Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force. 

Summerville escaped late Monday afternoon from investigators who had taken him into the edge of Heard County to recover stolen property.

There were no immediate details Wednesday night of his capture by the task force.

Summerville was handcuffed when he escaped and lost his shoes when he initially fled. There were reported sightings of Summerville following his escape, including one by a deputy.

Roopville Elementary School was placed on lockdown Tuesday following one sighting of Summerville.

Summerville was arrested by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on April 29 on four counts of first-degree arson, one count of second-degree arson and one count of felony theft by taking.
