Forestry Commission offers informative ‘Field Day’

(Franklin, GA) — Heard County residents are invited to learn about good forestry environmental practices at a presentation sponsored by the Georgia Forestry Commission’s Heard/Troup Unit.

The Field Day event will be held on Tuesday, June 13 from 9 AM – 4 PM on the property of Mike Maxwell,  5698 Roosterville Rd., Franklin, GA 30217.

The GFC Field Day will feature presentations on subjects including prescribe burning, Best Management Practices (BMP’s), cost share programs, loblolly and longleaf pines, turkey habitats and water quality practices, Natural Resource Conservation Services, and bee harvesting.

Lunch will be provided for those making advance reservations.

In addition to the GFC, sponsors of this event include the University of Georgia Extension Office and the Natural Resource Conservation Service.
