Franklin City Council Meeting Notes (03/04/21)

(Franklin, GA) — The Franklin City Council met Thursday in the Joel W. Rogers Courtroom at City Hall for its regular monthly meeting.

Officials in attendance included Mayor Kevin Hayes, City Council members Charles Israel, Cindy Putzek, Bo Almond, and Alane Bradfield along with City Clerk Karen Boyd, City Attorney David Mecklin, and Franklin Police Chief Kevin Hannah.

Attorney Mecklin gave the Invocation prior to the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes from the February 4, 2021 meeting were approved as written.

In unfinished business, the council took no action regarding the updating of the personnel policy to give the council more time to consider.

In new business, the council approved (4-0) three re-appointments to the Franklin Housing Authority Board. The three members rea-appointed were Maxine Ogletree, Joel Phillips, and Donald Rogers.

Next, the council approved (4-0) a sum of approximately $25,800.00 towards the future purchase of a new tractor and related equipment.

The council then unanimously approved allowing Plasti-Paint to perform a land survey in order to make an offer on a small piece of property needed for a slight expansion to their facility.

The council approved (4-0) a 5% Hotel-Motel tax ordinance and finally discussed some upcoming paving projects inside the city limits.

There were no public comments or executive session. During Mayoral comments, Hayes reminded all in attendance of the upcoming March 16 special election to fill the vacant seat on the city council.

The next regular meeting of the council will take place on Thursday, April 1 at 6:30 PM in the Joel W. Rogers Municipal Courtroom.
