HCMS Tomahawk Talk (10/22/14): Championship Edition

The Heard County Middle School Band perform during last week's semi-final win over Villa Rica

The Heard County Middle School Band performs during last week’s 28-6 semi-final win over Villa Rica. The Middle Braves host Temple this Thursday for the Championship at 5:30 PM

(Franklin) — This is it, the game that we have been working for since early June. Many people just look at middle school football and don’t really realize the time and effort that is put into it by both the players and coaches.

We practiced two hours a day three days a week during June and July to help prepare us for the season. Then regular practice began a few days after school started.

I would like to commend our players and their parents for making sure they were at these workouts. This week is now the time to put all these hours of work to work on the field for 32 minutes.

We were able to reach the championship game by defeating a very good Villa Rica team last week by a score of 28-6. It was a very hard fought battle that was scoreless until midway through the 2nd quarter when we were able to take the lead.

Our Braves were finally able to grab full control of the game by the start of the fourth quarter. We would like to thank our cheerleaders, band and fans for staying excited and fired up during the whole game.

This week, the Temple Tigers make their way to Franklin to take on our Braves. Three weeks ago, we were able to defeat them by a score of 24-0 but this week looks to be a challenge as they have a few players returning back from injuries.

We need all the support from the Brave Nation to help cheer us on to victory in the Championship game. Kickoff will be at 5:30 p.m.
