Heard County High School 2018 Commencement Ceremony

(Franklin, GA) — Heard County High School graduated 131 students Friday evening during the annual commencement ceremony held at Staples Stadium.

An overflow assembly of family, friends, and members of the community were in attendance to usher off the Class of 2018 into the next phase of life.

Principal Brent Tisdale welcomed those in attendance after the processional entry of the graduates accompanied by the performance of “Pomp and Circumstance” by the HCHS Band.

Several seniors addressed the crowd including Amiah Person who led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Co-valedictorians Kaylee Neighbors and Sara Wiggins together delivered a unique Valedictory Address. The pair were the first seniors in school history to share the honor and also shared the same ACT scores.

Eli Caldwell, Melanie Cheney, Caylee Meacham, and Laurel Roberts led the seniors in the traditional singing of the Alma Mater.

The senior class officers led the traditional “Turning of the Tassels” and offered the presentation of the class gift.

Heard County Superintendent Rodney Kay accepted the seniors and HHS Assistant Principal Chris Edwards announced all of the graduates.

The Class of 2018 earned a total of 2.6 million dollars in scholarships and 34 students graduated with honors.

Following the ceremony, the crowd flooded the football field for photos and congratulations.

About 2500 people attended the ceremony while many others watching the event online via live steam on youtube.
