Heard County schools ranked No. 9 by website

(Franklin, GA) — When Heard County students return to classes today, it’ll again be at some of the best-performing schools in Georgia.

Heard County schools were among the top schools in Georgia with a No. 9 ranking in the recently released School Digger rankings.

School Digger is a website designed to help parents find information about schools.

Founded in 2006, School Digger “empower parents to make informed choices about choosing a school for your child.”

The site uses test scores, rankings, school and district boundaries, student/teacher ratios, ethnic makeup, and scores of other useful metrics and information for over 120,000 elementary, middle, and high schools in the United States to create their rankings.

District statewide performance at Heard County schools have steadily increased since 2011 according to the site climbing from the 79.7 percentile group in 2011 to the 95.2 percentile ranking in 2018 meaning locals schools are considered by the site to be outperforming 95.2 percent of the public schools in the state.

Heard County Middle School is the highest ranked individual school in the county ranking at No. 41 among 543 Georgia Middle Schools.
