Heard County Schools release important end of school year information

Brave Nation:

As we continue our journey with our new reality we want to keep you as informed as possible.

This letter is being written to give you critical end of year information.

There have been a myriad of questions and we hope to answer as many as possible with this communication.

GRADES:  All students’ grades will be frozen and we will take the average the student had earned at the end of the third nine weeks (which was our last day before the closure of our buildings: Friday, March 13th). It is important to note that all online learning and learning packets can increase that grade but can in no way diminish that average. For example, if I had an 82 at the end of the 3rd nine weeks my grade will be no lower than an 82. We feel it is very important to reward the work that has been done during our virtual learning, but we also understand that it would be irresponsible to allow a student’s grade to drop due to lack of internet connectivity and other factors that are outside of a student’s control.

***Students who are dual enrolled should check on the institution’s policy regarding the completion of spring semester. High school administrators will be in contact to discuss this with each student.

REPORT CARDS:  Report cards will be mailed out the week of June 1st

PROMOTION/RETENTION:  Students who were being considered for retention should have already begun the process.  That process began as early as January and any questions regarding your individual student should be directed to the school principal.

SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM:  HCSS plans to continue to offer the school feeding program through the week of May 22nd.  Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-6:30 at HCES.
