HELP WANTED: Maintenance Mechanic/Foreman

(Franklin, GA) — Franklin Housing Authority (FHA) is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Mechanic/Working Foreman in our Maintenance Department. FHA operates and maintains 96 low-income units in Heard County.

Job Duties:

Provides leadership for assigned Mechanics and Assistants as directed by the Supervisor. This is a working leadership position. The Working Foreman will spend approximately 80% of the time performing hands-on maintenance duties.

The remaining time will be spent performing supervisory-type duties as directed by the Supervisor. This type of work involves the performance of semi-routine and diversified duties in connection with repairs to and maintenance of buildings and grounds requiring many skills found in the journeyman level such as carpentry for woodwork repairs, plumbing repairs, electrical and painting work. 

An incumbent is expected to have knowledge of an manual skills in repairing such items in plumbing and heating valves and pipes, electrical switches, stoves, and refrigerators, windows, doors, and other wood materials, mechanical equipment, and in carrying out a full set of maintenance duties.

Graduation from a standard high school is required.

Must have at least two or more years proven experience as a certified journeyman-level craftsman in one or more building trades or be a vo-tech graduate with a master mechanic certification in one or more of the trades classifications or have an equivalent combination of technical training and work experience to meet the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and a driver’s record with no major violations.
