(Franklin, GA) — Amy Marie Riss Caouette became a member of the James Stewart chapter and was inducted at their October meeting Saturday, October 12th.

A resident of Ephesus, Amy transferred her membership to our chapter on October 10th.  Amy came to discover the chapter in the spring when her daughter DJ was awarded the Youth Citizenship Medal from Ephesus Elementary School.

Amy and her husband, Mike, live in Ephesus with their three children, D.J., Sarah and Michael, Jr.  They are members of Ephesus Baptist Church and stay very busy with sports and other community activities.

Amy also works in Research and Development at Trident Seafoods in Carrollton, where her primary focus is product development.

Amy shared, “I have a very generous aunt who gifted me with my DAR membership.  My 7X great grandfather, Cornelius (Slott) Sloat fought in the American Revolution, along with his father-in-law.”

Through her aunt’s research, Amy discovered that Cornelius was once captured by the British and imprisoned in New York City. His wife, Eleanor, would sneak him food for survival.

James Stewart members are excited about the new addition to the chapter and look forward to working with her on new projects during the coming years. Amy was destined to be a member of the DAR, as she was born on the 4th of July.

We can help you find your Revolutionary Patriot and help you explore your heritage. Each DAR chapter has a trained Registrar that can assist you through this journey. Please consider becoming a member today. Our email address is jamesstewartchapterdar@gmail.com.
