Lady Braves sweep Rival Rumble

(Franklin, Ga) — The Lady Braves varsity softball team swept Bremen and Bowdon at the first annual ‘Rival Rumble’ in Franklin Saturday.

The trio of rivalry round robin games all proved to be close well-played softball games between the former Region 5-AA foes.

In the first game of the day, the Lady Braves edged Bremen 5-3 behind freshman Katelyn Jiles who earned her first career victory on the mound.

Jiles was sharp tossing five innings of four hit ball while allowing three walks. Sophmore Haley Bennett tossed the final two innings to earn her first save of the season.

At the plate, the Lady Braves were led multiple hit performances from Aspen Barker, Alyssa Cosper, Ally Harris, and Lora Glover. Harris and Barker each had two RBI’s in the first win of the season.

In game two of the day for Coach Hornsby’s squad, the Lady Braves moved to 2-2 on the season with another close 4-3 win over Bowdon.

Ally Harris had another two-hit day with an RBI while Anna Cosper and Taylor Storey also added RBI’s. Alexus Crawford scored two runs.

Mallory Galloway started for the Lady Braves tossing five innings allowing three runs on four hits with three strikeouts while Bennett came on again to shut down the Red Devilettes over the final two innings to earn the win.

In the other game of the day, Bowdon defeated Bremen 4-2.

The Lady Braves will travel to Newnan tomorrow to face the Cougars (6:00 PM following JV at 4:30 PM).
