Lady Braves topple the Lady Tigers

(Franklin) — The Lady Braves varsity basketball team rolled over the Temple Lady Tigers Tuesday night in Franklin winning 53-25.

Coach Helen Akins had the chance to see lots of her younger players in action late in the game after taking a big 28-7 lead at the half.

Junior Kimberly Harris once again continued to shine leading the way with 18 points. Other top scorers were Jordan Watson and Hannah Sanders with eight each, Alyssa Cosper with six, Madison Whitehead with five, and Sage Kelley with four.

Nisha Doby led the Lady Tigers with 10 points.

The Lady Braves travel to Manchester tonight for a huge game with Manchester. Tonight’s game is a make-up of last weekend’s game postponed due to weather issues. The Lady Braves have one 16 of the last 17 games with the lone loss being a buzzer-beating loss to the Angels just two weeks ago in Franklin.

Coach Paul Fitz-Simons and the boy’s team struggled against the a talented Tiger squad Tuesday night falling 53-39.

The Braves had a nice 10-0 run early in the fourth after trailing by 20 to begin the quarter. Javin Bols led the Tigers with 14.

For the Braves, Jordarius Foster and Christian Murray each had nine while Derrick Emory had seven. Freshman Alijah Huzzie had six and Darius Matthews tallied five.

The Braves also travel to Manchester tonight and both squads will be at home tomorrow for another region clash with Chattahoochee County.

The teams travel to Bowdon and Bremen next week for very important region rivalry games to end the regular season. The Region 5-AA tournament tips off the following week.
