Man injured in early morning motorcycle-deer crash

(Franklin, GA) — A man operating a motorcycle was airlifted to an Atlanta medical facility early this morning after a crash involving his motorcycle and a deer.

According to a report issued by the Georgia State Patrol, Phillip Marcellis, age 37 of Franklin, was traveling eastbound on GA Hwy 34 at approximately 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning when the accident occurred.

After the deer entered the roadway near the intersection of Cypress Road, Marcellis struck the deer with the front of his bike and was ejected. He was transported via life flight to Grady Hospital.

No further information on his condition is available at this time, but sources indicate the injuries are non life-threatening.

    Broken collar bone, broken rib, bruised lung with a small laceration on the lung and lots of bruises and road rash. All together I am doing OK. I want to thank all that stopped to help. The injuries could have been a lot worse but God was watching me. Thanks again to all those that stopped to help.
