Jake Harrod pitched five innings in Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Villa Rica allowing just one hit

(Franklin) — The Heard County Middle School baseball team defeated the visiting Villa Rica Wildcats Tuesday by a final score of 3-2 at HCMS.

Jake Harrod got his second win of the season on the hill tossing five innings while allowing only one hit and two unearned runs.

Dale Thornhill again came on in relief to shut down the Cats for the last two innings. Thornhill also had two key hits at the plate.

“Our pitching was good and our defense was solid but we are leaving way too many runners in scoring position,” said Coach Heath Horn after the game.

The Middle Braves travel to Temple on Thursday and Haralson County next Tuesday before returning home for huge back-to-back games with Bremen and Bowdon on Wednesday and Thursday.

In a 13-6 loss to Haralson County last week, Dale Thornhill went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s, while Key Whitlow went 2-for-2  with one RBI .

Caden Raines also had a single and 2 RBI’s.
