Middle Braves sweep Eagles on 8th grade appreciation night

(Franklin, GA) — Heard County Middle School honored its eight grade players with a between game ceremony at HCMS Thursday night.

The teams each responded with big wins over Mt. Zion as the season enters the home stretch prior to playoff time.

The Lady Braves knocked off the Eagles 50-16 behind another strong effort from Jayden Boykin. Boykin led the charge for the Lady Braves with 23 points.

The Lady Braves led 37-12 at the half and never looked back with the entire roster seeing some minutes during the second half.

Samantha Williams and Carmaya Swint each had big nights as well scoring nine points apiece.

Callie Senn and Natalie Schneider each had strong performances on the boards and the defensive ends. Senn scored three points while Schneider, Samaia Reid, and Kylie Nichol each scored two points.

In the boy’s game, the Braves continued their domination of division opposition with a strong 65-37 win over the Eagles.

Jonathan Echols had another big night scoring 20 points and electrified the crowd with a pair of first half slam dunks in the game.

L.J. Green posted another double-digit effort with 12 points while three different Braves (Cameron Latimer, Landon McClendon, and Cameron Wilkins) scored six points each.

Rounding out the scoring were Sammy Holliday with five, Jeremiah Eubanks with four, and Nathan Allen with four, and Antwan Carter with three.

The HCMS teams will return to action Tuesday with big cross-over rematches versus Carrollton and will then travel to Bowdon Thursday to close out the regular season.
