Middle Braves sweep Red Devils at HCMS

(Franklin, GA) — The HCMS basketball teams improved their records to a combined 9-1 on the season following a sweep of the Bowdon Red Devils Monday in Franklin.

The Lady Braves raised their season mark to 4-1 after a solid 37-36 win after jumping out to an 18-9 lead at the half.

Samantha Williams had the biggest game of her career to lead all scorers with 19 points.

Jayden Boykin wasn’t far behind with 14 points and Carmaya Swint finished with four.

In the boy’s game, the Braves were never challenged as they won 58-36 to remain perfect on the season at 5-0. The Braves opened the game on a 16-1 run and never looked back.

Leading scorers were Jonathan Echols with 15, Landon McLendon with 13, L.J. Green with 10, Sammy Holliday with eight, and Jeremiah Eubanks with six.

The squads traveled to Mt. Zion last Thursday and also earned division game sweeps over the Eagles. The girls won 53-44.

Leading the way was Jayden Boykin with 23, Samantha Williams with 12, and Carmaya Swint with eight points.

The boys defeated the Eagles 70-41 behind two 20 point scorers. Jonatahon Echols scored 25 and L.J. Green scored 20. Latimer added seven points and McLendon had six.

The two teams face off with Valley, AL this Thursday at 5:30 and 6:30 PM in a Christmas Tournament at Lagrange High School with the finals scheduled for Saturday.
