Motor Vehicle Division reminds drivers that services will be unavailable

(Atlanta, GA) — The Georgia Motor Vehicle Division is implementing the Georgia Driver Record and Integrated Vehicle Enterprise System (Georgia DRIVES), a new state-of-the-art system upgrade for vehicle registration and titling services during Memorial Day weekend.

Statewide, all County Tag Offices will be unable to process vehicle registrations and titling transactions Friday, May 24 – Monday, May 27.

All Georgia residents with tag renewals due in the months of May and June are encouraged to renew their vehicle registrations as soon as possible to avoid delays.

The Motor Vehicle Division is closing their Southmeadow office at noon on Thursday, May 23rd.

(Note: Both the Title and Registration system and the International Registration Plan (IRP) system will be down until Tuesday, May 28, 2019. It is important for vehicle owners and business partners to be aware of scheduled service outages heading into the upcoming Memorial Day launch of DRIVES and to plan accordingly.)

“We are excited about the upcoming Georgia DRIVES project launch over Memorial Day weekend. As customer service is one of our top priorities, we have made great efforts to ensure our customers are aware of the scheduled outages and have made every effort to help them conduct their business without interruptions. Statewide, tax commissioners are looking forward to serving vehicle owners more efficiently and giving drivers greater opportunities to self-serve at their convenience,” states Department of Revenue Commissioner, David Curry.

In preparation for the Georgia DRIVES launch, online and kiosk services will be unavailable Tuesday, May 21 – Monday, May 27.

In addition, county tag offices may have reduced hours and schedule changes beginning Tuesday, May 21 – Wednesday, May 29.
