Mr. Chris Mims

Mr. Christopher Jackson Mims, Jr., age 67, of Franklin passed away after a valiant battle with cancer on August 20, 2021.

A private memorial service will be held on a later date.

Mr. Mims was born October 4, 1953 in Birmingham, AL to Alice Crenshaw McCollum and the late Christopher Jackson Mims, Sr.

He was a Baptist by faith.

He served his country in the US Coast Guard for two years. He was retired from Cummins Engine, and had been working for GA Container as a truck driver for the last four years.

An outdoorsman at heart, much of his free time was spent enjoying God’s creation with his family. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and camping.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who dearly loved his family. He spent every moment he could with them, but his most precious moments were spent with his beloved Tammy.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Yates Mims of Franklin; his mother, Alice McCollum of Franklin; one son, Jerry Michael Mims of Roopville; two granddaughters, Krista Adams (Logan) and Victoria Mims; one sister, Cyndy Radford (Jim) of Acworth; mother-in-law, Brenda Milam; sister-in-law, Sandy Yates; brothers-in-law, Danny Yates (Amy) and Joseph Milam; special friends, Sherrell Cowart, Pat Bostwick and Elliott Bostwick; a number of beloved nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Christopher Jackson Mims, Sr. and a sister, Kathy Barnes.
