Mr. Freddie L. Dunson Sr.

Dunson ObitThe Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Freddie L. Dunson Sr. of LaGrange was held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Confidence Missionary Baptist Church on Colquitt Street.

Rev. C. F. Reed and Rev. Travis Leonard officiated and burial followed in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.

Freddie was born February 22, 1936 in Franklin, Georgia to the late Jim and Mary Jane Ware Dunson.

On May 19, 2015, he peacefully left this earthly life for eternal life surrounded by his family and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Zack, Philmore, Charlie, Eugene, Eddie, Claude, Willie B., J.C., Sam and Thomas (“Boy Dunson”); sisters: Pecola Beckley, Leola Montgomery, Gertrude Robinson and Jimmie Lou Hill; granddaughter, Tamyha Dunson and great-granddaughter, Komaya Dunson.

Freddie joined with the Christian family of the Ebenezer Baptist Church early his life under the pastorage of Rev. Turner. He loved his church family and worked faithfully through the years. He was ordained a Deacon in January 1998 under the pastorage of Rev. C. F. Reed.

Freddie was united in Holy Matrimony to Bernice Person Dunson. Four sons and one daughter were born to that union. He was quiet but even as a man of few words, you always knew where he stood.

More than all of these things he was devoted, God-fearing, and committed to his call as husband, father, and provider to his family. Because of that, he was admired by all that loved and knew him.

Freddie leaves to cherish his loving spirit and colorful memories, his wife of 54 years, Bernice Person Dunson; four sons: Ronnie (Veronica) Dunson, Freddie Dunson Jr., Danny Dunson and Quinton (Chip) Harris, all of LaGrange; Donnie Dunson, College Park, GA; one daughter, Debra Dunson, LaGrange; one sister, Mae Ola Harrison, Chattanooga, TN; sisters-in-law: Winnie Sue Dunson, Chattanooga, TN; Emma Dunson and Birdella Dunson, Dayton, OH; Joyce (Johnny) Simpson, LaGrange; Jean Person, Atlanta; Ann Williams, Fayetteville, GA; one brother-in-law, Jerry Person, Decatur, GA; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; special close friends: George and Shirley McCarty, Ms. Onys Brimelow, Ms. Marcia Wooten, Mr. John, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fiske; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home of Lagrange is in charge of arrangements.
