James Gillham was the oldest son of Woodrow and Annie Gillham, born July 7th, 1935, in Heber Springs, Arkansas.

James spent 61 years married to the love of his life, Sarah Frances Gillham. The two married after three months of dating, James always said he knew how lucky he was to find a woman like Frances.

James is survived by his loving wife, Frances Gillham, his brother Rex (Doria) Gillham, his two sons Jason (Ramona) Gillham and Lee (Barbara) Gillham, his three grandchildren Jared Gillham, Johnny (Christina) Gillham, and Cortney (Levi) George, and four great-grandchildren Natalia, Anastasia, Annie James, and Esmeralda.

James lived a life almost unimaginable for a country boy from Judsonia, Arkansas.

A veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, James served with distinction in the Army and Airforce before retiring.

While in service, James lived in Japan, Spain, and Germany. James spent Christmases in the mountains of Spain with his Spanish neighbors, vacationed in Amsterdam and Venice, rode camels in Morocco, and traded for handmade furniture in the streets of Gibraltar.

After retirement from the military, James worked for the Civil Service until retiring at the age of 47 after he lost vision in his right eye. James then worked as a military contractor for Sunbelt traveling the country until finally retiring in the mid-nineties.

James spent his years of retirement raising cattle, riding quarter horses, and listening to country western music.

He was a man of faith, loved his wife Frances more than words can express, and was a great man in every sense of the word.

Stutts Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of the arrangements.
