Mrs. Essie Lee Moore Brand

Mrs. Essie Lee Moore Brand, 91 of the Veal Community, passed away on September 8, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 29, 1927 in Randolph County, Alabama, the daughter of the late J. W. “Bill” Moore and the late Ina Leona Gore Moore.

In her earlier years, she was a seamstress, professional hair dresser, and business owner. In her retirement years, she sat with the elderly.

Among her multiple talents, she was an avid quilt maker, and had a great love for plants and flowers. Her greatest passion was to crochet and to share her talent with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Rev. Glenn Brand; infant son, Kenneth Brand; three brothers, Major Moore, Buck Moore, and Winford Moore; one sister, Lola Payne; two infant grandchildren; and son-in-law, Jesse Payton.

Survivors include daughters, Annease Payton of Roopville, Peggy Martin of Carrollton, Brenda & Gary Criswell of Carrollton, and Annette Cleveland of Hogansville; sons, Rodney & Kim Brand of Bowdon, and Robbie Brand of Veal; sisters, Louise Eady and Christine Ivey, both of Veal; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 14 great, great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM from Veal Methodist Church with Bro. Barry McKee and Mr. Tim Eady officiating.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Adam Brand, Chad Cleveland, Josh Payton, Slade Brand, Toby Bryant, Shane Criswell, and Matt Payton. Interment followed in the Veal Community Cemetery.
