Mrs. Gertrude Webb

Mrs. Laura Gertrude Yarbrough Webb, age 89, of Franklin passed away Thursday June 1, 2017 at Pine Knoll Nursing and Rehab.

Funeral services for Mrs. Webb will be conducted Saturday June 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Driver officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home from 12:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Webb was born April 16, 1928 in Carroll County, GA to the late William Yarbrough and Della McLain Yarbrough. She was a long time member of Yellowdirt Baptist Church.

For many years she helped manage Webb’s Grocery with her husband, Mr. Pink Webb. When the Hollingsworth Ferry was reopened in the 1970’s they sold food and goods to passersby and fishermen. People came to the store from miles around to purchase the unique fishing nets that she and Mr. Pink made from scratch.

In her spare time she enjoyed reading and playing bingo. Her most precious times were spent during family get-togethers, in particular annual Fourth of July fish fries.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Cates (Ralph) of Ephesus; three sons, Charles Webb (Norma) of Roopville, Wayne Webb (Linda) of Carrollton, and Bobby Webb (Jean) of Tallapoosa; daughter-in-law, Brenda Webb of Franklin; 15 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Doris Willis of Carrollton; and a number of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Pink Webb; one daughter, Brenda Yates; one son, Walter Webb; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
