Mrs. Joyce Skinner

Mrs. Joyce Laney Skinner, age 70, of Franklin passed away July 29, 2021.

Her funeral service will be held Monday August 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Owensby officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery.

The family will accept guests Monday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the service.

Mrs. Skinner was born October 6, 1950 in Troup County to the late Charlie Reed Laney and Ola Doris Richardson Laney. She was a Baptist by faith.

She was retired from Georgia Pacific, where she worked as a machine operator.

At home she was known as an accomplished baker and cook. Two of her specialties were red velvet cake and divinity. She always strived to make her home a happy one and loved her family dearly.

She held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and spent as much time with them as she could. One of her special treats was taking them out to get slushies every Wednesday.

Survivors include one daughter, Joann Tucker of Pine Mountain; two sons, Matthew Cotton (Elizabeth) of West Point and Kenneth Skinner of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Lambert of LaGrange; sisters-in-law, Nell Skinner and Gail Skinner; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Skinner; sisters, Judy Mothershed, Nancy Perry, Fayzell Janny, and Mary Turner; and brothers, Harold Laney and Charlie T. Laney.
