Mrs. Norma Gay

Mrs. Norma Jean Stokes Gay, age 75, of Franklin passed away Sunday April 8, 2018.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gay will be conducted Tuesday April 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Dallas officiating.

Interment will follow in Heard County Memorial Gardens.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Gay was born February 16, 1943 in Macon to the late Horace Brunson Stokes and Gertrude Rhunette Sweatman Stokes. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram.

She was a graduate of West Fulton High School, Class of 1960, where she was the Valedictorian of her class.

She worked as a Court Reporter for the Superior Courts of Georgia, Coweta Circuit. She loved her job and formed many lasting friendships with the judges, district attorneys, office staff and law enforcement officers she met over the years.

Family was at the center of her life. She especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Having the family together at a nice restaurant gave her great joy.

In her spare time she enjoyed reading and watching TV Westerns. She loved to sit on her back porch and watch hummingbirds feeding. Christmas was one of her favorite times of the year for shopping.

Survivors include three daughters, Sabrina Thompson and Melody Whitehead both of Franklin, and Dennette Lord (Bobby) of Dallas, GA; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Janice Baker (Glenn) of Jonesboro and a number of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Lyon.
