Recreation Football: Week 6 Preview

With only one game left before “Super Saturday” the Heard County Recreation football teams will be locked in key league match-ups this weekend. Expect hard-hitting, pad-popping competition as each team gears towards the 2011 Kiwanis Bowl.

  • (5/6 Flag- Coach Cosper) Coach Cosper’s flag Braves wrapped up their season last week by soundly defeating the Bremen Blue flag team 31-6. The Flag Braves finished the regular season undefeated. Their schedule included wins against Mt. Zion, Bremen Black, Bowdon #1, Bremen White and Bremen Blue. Way to go Flag BRAVES !
  • (7/8 Braves- Coach Dean) This week Coach Dean’s Braves will be back at home to clash with the Red Devils from Bowdon. Coming off a trouncing of the Carroll County White team, these Braves will try to extend their season long win streak as they look to stay unbeaten. Coach Dean’s Braves are the first game on tap for Saturday’s events. Kickoff is 10 a.m. at the Heard County Sports Complex.
  • (7/8 Braves- Coach Marsh) Coach Marsh’s Braves will be back in action this Saturday against Bremen Blue. Last week this team took care of business as they shut-out the Ranburne Bulldogs 14-0. With an 11:30 kickoff, the Braves will partake in the second contest of the day following Coach Dean’s game.
  • (9/10) Braves- Coach Owens) Coming off their first victory of the season, Coach Owens’ Braves will be taking on the Temple Black team this week at home. With a 1 p.m. start time the Braves will once again bring their intensity to the field as the Tigers will be looking to match their efforts. This game will cap off the afternoon action at the sports complex.
  • (9/10 Braves- Coach Yates) Coach Yates’ Braves will be traveling to Mt. Zion (site of last year’s opening round of Kiwanis Bowl competition) this week to take on the Eagles. This 9/10 Braves team is coming off a road victory over the Holy Ground Stallions last week in Roopville. This year, these Braves are undefeated at 5-0. Kickoff on Saturday will be at 1:30 at Mt. Zion High School.
  • (11/12 Braves- Coach Head) Coming off a devastating loss to Villa Rica Black the 11/12 Braves look to notch another win this week as they travel to Bremen to play the Blue Devils. This will be the Braves first road game of the season as they attempt to push their record back to .500 against a very tough opponent. Bremen comes into the game ranked #4 while the Braves are ranked #7 in the WGEA league. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. at Bremen High School.
